Spicely Does It, a small food innovation business based in the rolling hills of the High Peak District, have been selected as a finalist in the Great British Food Awards 2021 with their NEW Black Pudding Making Kit. Gaynor Preece (founder) expressed that “The Black Pudding Kit took us 3 years to perfect, with many friends and family having to eat loads of homemade Black Pudding (not a bad job if you can get it)”
This isn’t Spicely Does It’s first attempt at the award, “We have submitted several other kits over the years with little success. It's a very competitive award, so receiving THE email on a Monday morning, had us jumping up and down with joy!”
Spicely Does It are inventors of Charcuterie & Deli Making Kits, All-in-One Seasonings and Marinades. The whole team are passionate foodies, great advocates of knowing where our food comes from and how it is made.
Gaynor's extensive industry experience led her to spot a gap in the market, “My background is in the ingredients industry so I’m very familiar with the field to fork process. There are many things I would like to change, so I decided to start small; creating kits to make deli and charcuterie delights which are made with simplicity in mind. Our mission is to make artisan food accessible for everyone. Our kits are very popular as gifts. They create fun kitchen activities and bring families together; where they can take pride in the knowledge they know what’s inside their food and that they have made it. There’s nothing that makes me happier than happy bellies - full of the good stuff!”
The final judging will be done by the esteemed Vivek Singh - Indian-British celebrity chef, restauranteur, author of 6 books and media personality known for his innovative take on Indian Cuisine. He is the CEO and Executive Chef of five restaurants including London’s Cinnamon Club. Results will be revealed on the 28th October 2021.
“Spicely Does It was founded by Gaynor Preece who has over 30 years experience in the ingredients industry. Launching two successful ingredient brands, supplying the likes of Lakeland, Snaffling Pig, Cotswold Fayre, Chatsworth Estate and Selfridges. Gaynor spotted a gap in the market between consumers and artisanal food. Spicely Does It sought to prove that artisanal food isn’t reserved for the experts. The kits simplify the process and use inexpensive equipment to achieve amazing, artisan food. Using their industry leading mixes and innovative techniques, there’s no limit to what you can create!” Prices starting from £13.50 makes these kits affordable and accessible for everyone.
